Fordham United Methodist Church: Music

Fordham United Methodist Church: A Beacon of Light in the Bronx and Beyond

Music.

Music and singing has always played an integral part in Methodist worship. John Wesley, founder of the people called Methodists, taught that "theology is preached, sung, and lived."

The music offerings at FUMC are integral to our worship experience. The diversity of our music reflects that of our congregation. Under the direction of Dr. John C. Banks, Fordham's music ministry routinely includes arranged anthems, sacred music, Negro spirituals, and classical selections.

Our annual performance of Handel’s Messiah, Part 1, with orchestra and harpsichord, is celebrated throughout the Bronx and beyond.
